Hook up

  • Make sure coupling is securely on the towball and handle latch is completely down.

Crossed chains
  • Connect chains using weight-rated shackles. Cross the chains to prevent trailer drop.
  • Connect electrical plug securely. Clean with WD-40 if dirty. Test lights and indicators.

Handbrake
  • Remove handbrake if applicable.
  • Remove latch for braking system to activate (hydraulic brakes only).

Don’t forget: Secure the ramps correctly before driving off.

What to check before you get moving again

  • Handbrake is NOT applied
  • Chains and shackles secure
  • Light plug secure and lights working
  • Tyres inflated
  • Load balanced and secure
  • Reverse tab in correct position

Troubleshooting

  • Trailer won’t reverse: Check handbrake is off and reverse tab is engaged.

  • Brakes dragging or smelling: Make sure the handbrake is off.
  • Smoke from wheels: Possible bearing failure. Stop immediately and call 0416 667 971.

Flat tyre
  • Flat tyre: Use standard car tools or roadside assist. Still stuck? Call 0416 667 971.
  • Lights not working: Check plug is secure, clean contacts with WD-40, and check vehicle fuse.

Damage or Loss

  • Light smashed – Secure wiring safely, call 0416 667 971 for replacement instructions.
  • Jockey wheel broken – Do not tow without advice, call immediately.
  • Lost ramps, straps, winch handle, or other accessories – Report immediately (replacement fees may apply).
  • Any structural damage – Stop using trailer and call.

What not to do

  • Never leave trailer unattached.
  • Do not attempt repairs without contacting Ricky D.
  • Do not sell or lend the trailer.
  • Do not overload or exceed ratings.
  • Do not off-road unless approved.
  • Do not ignore unusual noises or smells.
What not to do

Return checklist

  • Trailer clean and empty.
  • All accessories returned (ramps, straps, locks, winch handles).
  • No damage or issues unreported.
  • Returned on time or extension arranged.
